Shifting the paradigm: the intersection of domestic violence, child maltreatment and child safety and wellbeing
PRESENTED BY: David Mandel, Founder of David Mandel & Associates
Family violence perpetrators hurt children in a myriad of ways. Whether it be through their choice to expose children to their violence against another parent, through direct physical maltreatment, or by using a child as a weapon against the other parent, men who use intimate partner violence create safety and risk concerns for children. The Safe and Together™ model provides a concrete framework for advancing practice, improving coordination and collaboration with community partners and reviewing and updating policy.
David Mandel provides an overview of the Safe and Together ™ model and explains how Child Safety Services, family support and the domestic violence sectors can work together to keep children safe and together with the non-offending survivor of domestic and family violence.
