Helping local government recognise and respond to domestic and family violence.
The Mackay Regional Council experience
During Domestic Violence Prevention Month we delivered accredited training to a sector not traditionally seen as part of the domestic violence sector staff from local government. Congratulations to Mackay Regional Council for undertaking our Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence two day workshop. This partnership with Mackay Regional Council highlights the increasing recognition of the role all organisations can play in preventing and responding to domestic and family violence. Mackay Regional Council’s People and Culture team has taken the lead in developing key strategies to heighten awareness of domestic and family violence in workplaces, complementing the work of other parts of Council to broaden community awareness.
“This course was pivotal in connecting our staff with the community strategy… We want everyone to help spread the message of zero tolerance and recognise that any aspect of violence, real or potential in the workforce will not be tolerated.”
