Domestic and Family Violence Training Modules on Coercive Control and Legislative Change

Department of Justice and Attorney-General has developed two online training modules that are available statewide for government agencies, non-government organisations and community groups. These online training modules have been developed in line with the Domestic and family violence training and change management framework and explore coercive control and the new coercive control legislation which commences on 26 May 2025.

About the modules

Module 1 will take approximately 50 minutes and Module 2 will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The modules are self-paced to ensure you can stop and start again when you please.

‌There are learning checkpoints throughout the module, where you will be quizzed with multiple choice questions to assess your understanding. You are required to complete each quiz before you can move on to the next section of the module. Don’t worry if you don’t get all answers correct, however it is recommended you read the correct answer when it is provided. There are no time limits to working through the quizzes and you can attempt each quiz as often as you need to.

Once you have progressed through the entirety of the module, you will immediately receive a Statement of Completion, which will then be available in your Account.

Module 1 and Module 2 discuss coercive control and domestic and family violence. These topics may be distressing for you and might bring up personal feelings and memories. It is important to look after yourself and take breaks anytime you need. Given the training is self-paced, you can return to the training where you left off.

‌If you need support, please visit 1800RESPECT, call 1800 737 732, access your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if available or seek support through one of the alternative support services listed at the beginning of each module.
