15 years and still going strong!

CQUniversity’s Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research (QCDFVR) is set to celebrate its fifteenth birthday in style with a move to a new location.

QCDFVR now has a new “home” in a gracious heritage-listed building on CQUniversity’s Mackay City Campus, within the former Mackay Technical College.

The site has also historically housed the first state high school in Mackay. The new location will now be the permanent home to the nationally-recognised centre which has been creating and sharing knowledge related to domestic and family violence, since it was officially opened in 2002 by the then Minister for Education, The Hon. Anna Bligh MP.

The new premises will accommodate the centre Director as well as numerous research, education and support staff, and visiting national and international researchers.

HAPPY 15th Birthday to QCDFVR – to all staff and former staff who have contributed to wonderful resources and research, and responses to DFV interventions in Qld and beyond. We wish you well for a long and productive future of research initiatives that will make a difference to our community – safety for women and children and accountability and containment of offenders.
